Week 14 #1

Implications of RTI: The article about the implications of RTI considers what the role of the reading teacher might play in the process. Reading professionals could help improve classroom reading through making sure to attend professional developments, coaching, or mentoring. When they are on a professional caliber, reading professionals have the power to provide high quality reading interventions that raise the bar of student achievement. Instruction provided must coordinate carefully with classroom reading, be based on student performance results, emphasize the learning needs of the student and increase the amount of teaching the student receives. Must important, the instruction should be adjusted to student reading level and also be sufficient in intensity so that results can be shown.
